Answer the workspace setup questions

The three questions Calso asks the first time you open your dashboard, what each answer adds to or removes from your Setup Guide, and why Skip for now is a safe choice.

Updated August 27, 2026

The first time you open your dashboard, Calso asks three quick questions about your practice. Your answers tailor the Setup Guide checklist so it lists the things you actually plan to do — and skips the ones you don't.

The questions appear as a full-screen panel headed Let's set up your workspace, over your dashboard, the first time you sign in. It covers every dashboard page until you finish it, so there is nothing to hunt for and no way to browse past it. It appears once for your workspace, not once per sign-in.

The three questions

What will you offer? is a set of checkboxes marked Select all that apply1:1 sessions, Session packages, Group events and Free discovery calls. Tick everything you expect to sell in the next few months, not just the thing you'll launch first.

Will you charge? is a choice between Yes, I'll accept payments online and Not yet. Answer Yes if you intend to take money through your booking page at all, even if you haven't set up Stripe yet — this is about intent, not readiness.

How do you meet clients? is another multiple-choice set: Video call, In person and Phone. Tick all the ways you work. Ticking In person is what tells Calso you'll want somewhere to store your studio or office address.

  1. Tick what you'll offer

Under What will you offer?, tick every box that matches your practice. 1:1 sessions is ticked for you; add Session packages, Group events or Free discovery calls as they apply.

  2. Say whether you'll charge

Under Will you charge?, choose Yes, I'll accept payments online if money will change hands through Calso, or Not yet if you're only scheduling for now.

  3. Say how you meet clients

Under How do you meet clients?, tick Video call, In person, Phone, or any combination of the three.

  4. Press Get started

The button reads Saving... for a moment, the panel closes, and your dashboard appears behind it with the Setup Guide built to match your answers.

What each answer changes in your Setup Guide

The Setup Guide is the onboarding checklist behind the progress ring in the sidebar — the small circle labelled with your count and the word Setup, next to the Calso wordmark. Four of your answers decide what that checklist contains.

Your answerWhat the Setup Guide does
Session packages tickedAdds Explore package offerings under Can People Book You?
Group events tickedAdds Explore group events under Can People Book You?
In person tickedAdds Set up a venue under Can People Book You?
Yes, I'll accept payments onlineShows the whole Can People Pay You? section, with Connect Stripe and Explore cancellation policies
Not yetHides the Can People Pay You? section entirely

Everything else in the checklist — your photo, your calendar, your first event type, your hours, previewing and sharing your booking page — appears no matter how you answer.

Skip for now, and what it saves

Skip for now sits to the left of Get started. It is not a deferral — the questions will not come back later. It saves the answers that are already selected when the panel opens and marks the questions finished:

  • 1:1 sessions, and none of the other three offerings
  • Yes, I'll accept payments online
  • Video call, and neither In person nor Phone

For most coaches starting out, that is exactly right, which is why skipping is a safe click rather than a risky one. You get the payments section in your Setup Guide and a checklist with no package, group event, or venue items on it. If any of those three describe your practice, spend the twenty seconds instead.

Answers you set once

There is no screen anywhere in Calso for revisiting these three questions. Once you press Get started or Skip for now, the answers are set for the workspace, so answer them honestly rather than aspirationally on the first pass.

In practice the stakes are low. The worst case is a Setup Guide missing a prompt for something you decided to offer later, or carrying a prompt for something you tried and dropped. Either way, the sidebar still lists Packages, Groups and Venues, and every setting behind them works the same for you as for a coach who ticked the box.

Where to go next

With the questions behind you, take a look at what the checklist is asking for in Work through the Setup Guide checklist, or get your bearings first with a tour of the dashboard. When you're ready to make something bookable, start with your first event type.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change my workspace setup answers later?

No — there is no screen in Calso for revisiting the three setup questions once you have answered or skipped them. The answers only decide which optional items show up in your Setup Guide checklist, so a wrong answer never blocks you from selling packages, running group events, or taking payments. Everything those items point at stays reachable from the sidebar and from Settings.

What does Skip for now actually do?

It saves the answers already selected on screen and marks the questions finished. That means 1:1 sessions, Yes I'll accept payments online, and Video call are recorded for you. It is not a deferral — the questions will not come back — but it is a sensible set of answers for most coaches.

Why is there no payments section in my Setup Guide?

You answered Not yet to the question about charging, which removes the Can People Pay You? section from the checklist. You can still connect Stripe and start taking payments at any time from Settings, and from the Connect Stripe link on your dashboard's revenue card.

Do I have to answer the questions before I can use Calso?

Yes. The three questions cover the dashboard until you finish them, so there is no way to browse past them. They take about twenty seconds, and Skip for now finishes them in one click.
